Eloise Todd Cooker, age 88, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 in the Universal Healthcare, Bolivia, NC with family by her side.
Eloise was one of nine children born to the late William and Mary Eliza Floyd Todd. In addition to her parents, Eloise was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ann Cooker, a son, Carl Eugene Cooker, Jr., their father, Carl Cooker, Sr., her siblings, Louise Todd, Velma Coleman, Effie Hegge, Buddy Todd, Lee Todd, Irene Tharpe, Lula Mae Tharpe and Jack Todd.
Eloise was known for being a very strong woman, she saw many struggles in her life which taught her to be compassionate, resilient, creative, generous, resourceful, and wise beyond her years. She will forever be remembered as a provider for her family, with meager means, she would always see that her family had what they needed. She had a unique ability to tell wonderful stories with her special wit and a splash of humor. She retired at the age of 77 and was a devoted employee of The Winds Resort of Ocean Isle Beach. Eloise took care of not only her family but the elderly in her community. She enjoyed fishing (especially when the spots were running), gardening where she would grow food for the table and working in her yard.
Surviving are her beloved children, William Marshall Cooker, Landis Cooker (Cindy); Deborah Kinlaw, Carla Black, (Greg); grandchildren, Tammy Munford (Michael), Gregory Cooker, Matthew Cooker, Kelly Cooker, Jennifer Cooker, Justin Kinlaw (Jordan), Christopher Taylor, Courtney Reeves (Caleb), Breanna Jones (Mike), Heather McNeill (Jamey), McKenzie Teal (Kyle), Brandon Black; great grandchildren, Daymian, Billy, Joseph, Bentley, Liam, Blake, Jackson, Rowyn, Dax; and a host of nieces, nephews and numerous close friends whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held Monday, the twenty sixth of September 2022 at four o’clock in the afternoon in the Old Shallotte Baptist Church with The Reverend Rory Thigpen officiating. Burial will follow in the Gurganus Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
