Obituary
Elmer Douglas “Doug” Bowen, age 88, of Calabash, NC passed away at his home on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Doug was born in Warsaw, VA on July 7, 1934 to the late Ervin and Thelma Nash Bowen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Norman A. Bowen, and Eugene “Gene” Bowen.
Doug was a proud US Navy veteran, he was also a law enforcement officer and was a retired VP of Claims with the Guard Insurance Company. He was an avid golfer and played regularly.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 33 years, Eileen Simpson Bowen; his children, Kevin Bowen and Keith Bowen; two grandsons, Matthew and Stephen Bowen; two sisters, Patricia Bowen of Manassas Va, and Adeline Boomgaard of Mesa AZ.
Graveside services are being planned for interment in the Rappahannock Baptist Church Cemetery, Oak Row, VA and will be announced at a later date.
