Dennis Sharp, Jr. Obituary

Dennis Joe Sharp, Jr., age 55, of Sunset Beach, NC passed away on Sunday the seventeenth of May 2020 at his home.

Joe was born in Washington, DC on Tuesday the fourth of May 1965 to Barbara Welcome Tulloch and the late Dennis Joe Sharp, Sr. After high school, Joe attended West Virginia University where he majored in Accounting and Finance. While there, his love of music and his exceptional ability to play music led him to the college band, and he was ranked #2 in the trumpet section. He graduated WVU with a bachelor’s degree. He was a sports fan and loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Nationals and the Washington Capitals. Joe’s passions were love for his family and listening to his music. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marie and Jerry Welcome, his paternal grandparents, Jane and Al Dyer, and his canine friend “Taz”.

Survivors include his daughter, Toni Freeman and granddaughter, Jocelyn (JoJo) Freeman, both of Aurora, CO; and his mother, Barbara Tulloch and her husband Jay Tulloch of Sunset Beach, NC. Other survivors include family members Gerald and Rosie Welcome, Jane (Welcome) and Danny Adams, and Joe’s cousins (who were more like brothers and sisters to him) Danny Jr., Josh, Michael, Jared, Christy, Anna and Andrew; and his special friend Nancy Foti.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, memorial services will be private.

In lieu of traditional remembrances the family requests with gratitude that donations be made in his name to your local ASPCA.
