Delaney H (Holmes) Bryant

Delaney Holmes Bryant, age 71, of Newport News, VA, formerly of Shallotte, NC passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in the Brunswick Health & Rehabilitation Center, Ash, NC.

Delaney was born in Wilmington, NC on July 4, 1952, to Hubert L. and Margaret S. Holmes of Shallotte.

Delaney was a graduate of the Shallotte High School, Class of 1970, then North Carolina State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. She also served as Miss Brunswick County in 1972.

Delaney is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard M. Bryant of the home; a son Mitchell Bryant and wife Kasey of Carrollton, VA; siblings, Sharon H. Sloane (Tripp), of Ocean Isle Beach, Theresa Holmes of Shallotte, HL Holmes, Jr. (Kim) of Shallotte, Sarah “Wendy” Holmes of Shallotte,; grandchildren, Cage Bryant, Keaira Bryant, Amelya Ortolano, Abel Gerst and seven nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Rachel Denise Holmes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 6, 2023 in the Norris Funeral Service, Chatham Chapel, 147 S. Main Street, Chatham, VA  24531. Burial will follow in the J. K. Bryant Cemetery, Green Bay Road, Chatham, VA.
