Daniel Cory Krawiec, age 67, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, formerly of Greensboro, NC, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCare Center, Bolivia, NC, with his family by his side.
Dan was born in Endicott, NY, on February 14, 1953, to the late Eugene Charles Krawiec, Sr. and Doris MacCaine Krawiec. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by much-loved grandmother Clara MacCaine, uncle Douglas MacCaine, sister Rose Harvell, brother Eugene Charles Krawiec, Jr., stepfather Larry Harvell, and stepbrother David Krawiec.
Dan proudly served in the United States Army and later graduated from both Rutledge College and Jefferson College. He had distinguished career, primarily serving in senior leadership roles in the home furnishings industry, before retiring from the High Point (NC) Department of Parks & Recreation. Dan kept busy serving in various positions in neighborhood Homeowners Associations, starting walking groups, and lending a hand whenever needed by friends and neighbors. He was an avid gardener, excelling in horticulture and always happy to share help and advice. Dan was also a passionate fisherman who loved being on the water with his friends and sharing photos of his catch.
Surviving are his loving wife of 32 years, Carol Jean Krawiec; two sons, Danny Krawiec and wife Jennifer of Hickory, NC, Drew Krawiec and partner Milan Kue of Chester, SC; grandchildren, Matthew, Mary, and Anna Krawiec. Also surviving are brothers, Raymond Krawiec and wife Joyce of Kernersville, NC, Paul Krawiec and wife Cynthia of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Delores Lawrence of Myrtle Beach, SC, Patricia Krawiec of Conway, SC, and Sally Littleton of Sophia, NC; a sister-in-law, Darlene Krawiec of Lancaster, SC; stepbrother, Lee Raine Harvell and wife Lou of Greensboro, NC; step-sisters, Lisa Williams and husband Steve of Franklinville, NC, and Linda Zimmerman and husband Mike of Greensboro, NC, as well as his lifelong best friend, Danny Basham of Palm Bay, FL. He is also survived by his beloved bird “Pretty Boy”, a peach-faced African Love Bird that Dan rescued while working in High Point.
A celebration of life service will be announced in the near future.
