Christopher Simmons Obituary

Christopher W. Simmons peacefully passed away in his sleep on January 27, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Teresa (Saville) Simmons; stepchildren Leslie Norris [Ron], Candace Parker [Joel Olague]; two grandchildren, Christian Norris and Luke Parker; two brothers, James Simmons [Lee] and David Simmons, a sister, Elizabeth Curry [Joe], two nieces, Morgan Simmons [Tom Foster] and Hannah Roberts [Ruston], and two nephews, Dylan Curry [Taylor] and Joey Curry [Patty]. He was predeceased by his mother Shirley Ann Simmons and father James Lucien Simmons.

A native of Romney, West Virginia, Chris grew up in this close-knit community and attended Hampshire High School, where he met Teresa. Their love story would unfold many years later when they met again and married. After high school, Chris dedicated the next 25 years to the United States Air Force. Rising to the rank of Master Sergeant, Chris had a distinguished career, receiving multiple awards for his dedicated service. One of his fondest souvenirs includes a piece of the Berlin Wall he obtained while deployed in Germany.

In retirement, Chris and Teresa settled on the North Carolina coast, where he pursued his passions for fishing and boating.

Chris will always be remembered for his quick wit, sharp humor, and ability to weave laughter effortlessly into any situation, including these last weeks. As Chris aptly quoted, "Get busy living or get busy dying," a mantra that encapsulates his resilient spirit and zest for life.

Choosing cremation, his remains will find their final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery, a fitting tribute to his service to our nation. The date of internment will be shared at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully welcomes contributions to the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, whose exceptional care extended to Chris and Teresa.
