Christopher Joseph Macaluso
September 28, 1957 - May 12, 2025
It is with the heaviest of hearts and many tears that we announce that Chris
Macaluso passed away peacefully on May 12th on Oak Island, NC after a long illness.
He was born in Point Pleasant NJ, where he spent most of his life. He leaves behind a
daughter, Nina, and two sons, Carlo and Joey, as well as grandchildren. He also
leaves behind his beloved, sweet Shirley.
Chris was known throughout his life as very dedicated worker and devoted father.
He began his own tree removal service in Point Pleasant Macaluso Tree Service,
which was very successful for over 40 years with several employees, including his
two sons and daughter. He mentored his sons to follow in his footsteps and both have their own tree removal companies today. It would be an understatement to say that Chris was happiest swinging in the treetops. Chris was a true free spirit who loved to joke and make others laugh. The beach was probably his favorite place to spend days when he wasn't working, which wasn't often. He took many trips with his children to theme parks and probably had as much fun as they did on these adventures. Chris was childlike in his humor and was known to cut the rug whenever given the chance. He and Shirley spent wonderful times traveling to Mexico and Cape May, lounging on the beach, laughing and having fun.
Chris moved to North Carolina to spend his golden years but soon became very ill. It was here that he met his new friends Ernie and Alice. Chris blew into our lives like a sweet ocean breeze and graced us with his pure heart and gentle soul. We learned very quickly after he moved into our home that he was a fighter. Even after his disease progressed and it became difficult for him to walk, he would be up before the dawn telling us, "Let's go, it's time to work on the deck!" Chris was our "supervisor" and instructed us through the entire process of rebuilding our deck. He adored planting flowers and working outside! There was no job that he could not tackle and he was always happy to help.
Dearest Chris, we will miss the beautiful meals we shared as a "family", the back-and-forth backhanded humor between you and Ernie that kept us rolling with laughter. Most of all we will miss the childlike way you had of seeing the world and the sweet innocence of your heart. Ernie and Alice are better people for having you in our lives and we will never forget. It's time to grab a cocktail and a find that perfect spot on the beaches of heaven.
Dance with the angels sweet Chris!
