Charles Gerald "Jerry" Schiel, 82, of Supply, North Carolina passed away at home on November 24, 2021.  He was born in August of 1939 in Pine Beach, NJ to Charles Albert Schiel and Mary Elizabeth (Newman)  Schiel.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clara Anieta (Peterson) Schiel; 6 children, Christina and Jack Sorrentino of Fairview, NC, Charlene Schiel of Supply, NC, Colleen and Brian Tice of Arden, NC, Charles (Butch) and Janis Schiel of Shallotte, NC, Clifford and Michelle Schiel of Beachwood, NJ, Craig Schiel and Tracie Zimmer of Supply, NC, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  Jerry is also survived by his sister Marilyn Dickinson of Monroe, NH and many nieces and nephews.  He had a close relationship with his favorite nephew Steve Dickinson and his wife Patricia.

Jerry graduated from Toms River High School in 1957.  He had many friends from his childhood in Pine Beach and while raising his family in Beachwood, NJ as well as in his retirement in 1992 to Supply, NC.  He has always spoken fondly of his many friends and the great memories he shares with them.

Jerry was an auto mechanic for 65 years and an avid gardener and fisherman.  His love of cars and auto racing inspired his hobby of racing and building cars.  He raced in the 1960's at Wall Stadium, Old Bridge, New Egypt and East Windsor, NJ.  In North Carolina, he built cars for his sons and other drivers to compete on North Carolina and South Carolina tracks.  Jerry belonged to Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club, Bell and Bell Vintage Racing and the Sportsman Club of Beachwood, NJ.

Jerry was much loved by his family and close friends.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his wisdom and his willingness to help others.
