Carrie Ann (Clifton) Mattingly

Carrie Ann Clifton Mattingly, 85, of Saint Matthews, SC, passed away on May 8, 2025. She was the wife of the late David Richard "Dick" Mattingly, Jr.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Old Shallotte Baptist Church Cemetery, 488 Dartmoor Way SW, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. 

Carrie Ann was born in Grissettown, NC, a daughter of the late John Sampson Clifton and Irene Grissett Clifton. She was a teacher for many years. Carrie Ann's favorite title in life was Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, and to all those students she taught over the years Mrs. Matty. She loved her family first and foremost, followed by her students and fellow teachers as well as her love for her dogs. 

Carrie Ann is survived by her children, Dave Mattingly (Gail) of Clyde, NC, Sheila M. Dobson (Darrell Teague) of Sunset Beach, NC, Ryan Mattingly (Kaye) of Holden Beach, NC, Roger Mattingly (Sherri) of Saint Matthews, SC, and Reed Mattingly (Heather) of Chapin, SC; eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren.
