It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bonnie Jean Hemenez of Little River, SC. Bonnie passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, in the Embrace Hospice of Myrtle Beach, SC following a time of declining health.
Born September 15, 1935, in Lancaster, Nebraska, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Donald Francis Smith and Lilly Melvina Smith. Through her journey of 90 years, she touched many lives with her wisdom, humor and an unwavering spirit of perseverance.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Hallberg; second husband, Majin Hemenez; son Roger Hallberg (first wife Kim), Brother Donald E Smith, sister Norene Graham, and great grandson Anthony Henry Hallberg-Lucero.
She is survived by two sons, Walter Hallberg (wife Cici) of Camp Verde, AZ, Scott Hallberg (wife Carol) of Madera, CA, daughter Debra Hallberg-Benson of Carolina Shores, NC and beloved grandchildren Alicia, Tiffany, Ryan, Kristene, Amanda, Katie, Kelly, Scotty, and 12 great grandchildren.
Bonnie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She brought joy to all who knew her. She was very supportive of her children, even when it came to her son, Walter’s love of animals which included bathing his sheep in the family bathtub.
At the family’s request there will be no service at this time. A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
