Betty Marie (Lancaster) Canipe

Betty Marie Canipe, 81, of Shallotte, NC formerly of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 21, 2026. 

Born in Davidson County, Tn on May 10, 1944, Betty was one of five children born to the late Walter Virgil Lancaster, Sr. and Hattie Surina Brown Lancaster. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by two brothers, Virgil Lancaster, Jr., Dennis Lancaster and her aunt, Minnie Hart. 

 Betty was a woman whose love for her family was the center of her life. She cherished being a mother above all else, a role she carried with deep devotion, strength, and pride. She shared a special bond with her beloved husband, and together they built a life filled with love, resilience, and meaningful moments.

Betty also found great joy in the companionship of her cherished fur babies, Charlotte and Bubba, who brought her comfort and happiness.

She had a spirit that was both strong and endearing—to know Betty was truly to love her. She will be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering presence, and the love she gave so freely to those around her.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, and her love will continue to guide her family in the days ahead.

Survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Donald Lloyd Canipe; three sons, Don Allen Carroll and wife Dawn, Jeffery Scott Carroll and wife Elisabeth, Rob Carroll and wife Rachel; a daughter, Jessica June and husband Desmond June, Sr.; a brother, Jimmy Lancaster and wife Nina; her sister and best friend, Paula Markham, special cousin Cindy Hart grandchildren, Don Austin Carroll, Clayton Carroll and wife Alejandra, Courtney Hutzler and husband Patrick, Bayley Van Sickle and husband Bryan, Brandon Carroll and partner Melody, Michelle Boyd and husband Kip, Mackenzie and husband Shylo Ward, Victoria Homitz Jayla, Jasmine, Jamey and  Desmond June, Jr  great-grandchildren, Bryson Hutzler, Gareth Carroll and Brady Van Sickle. 

A Celebration of Life service will be on April 25, 2026 in the Calvary Baptist Church, on Mt Holly-Huntersville Road, Charlotte, NC. Visitation at 11:00 AM, Service will follow at 12:00 PM.
