Bernard Albrecth Gottier

On May 6, 2022 Bernard (Bernie) Gottier, age 97, died in North Carolina after a long illness. Bernie was a son of the late Werner and Bertha Gottlier Kunzli. He was surrounded  by much virtual family love, while his devoted wife Anne held his hand.

        Bernie loved life, his family, and friends. He was a Marine veteran of World War II. He enjoyed weekends at “the farm” feeding big groups of family and friends, listening to Neil Diamond. And getting up in the wee hours to pack lunch for skiing.  He loved travel, Aruba, Windex, clean windows, cheese,  chocolate, cookies, tools, tinkering, and tractors. He especially loved enjoying his home and it’s peaceful Mountain View’s, mowing his lawn, and the beauty of nature.

    Bernie is survived By his loving wife Anne Eltinge Gottier of Ludlow VT, his caring sons, Joel Gottier of Fallbrook CA and Brent Gottier and his wife Roseann of Tolland CT, his adoring stepchildren, Charlie Eltinge of Tyson VT, and Amanda Eltinge of Plymouth MA., his beloved granddaughter Nicole Gottier and her husband Eric Hermeyer of Memphis TN. Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by his son Jeffrey Gottlier, his brother, Werner Kunzli, Jr., his sister, Arleen Songailo and first wife Carolyn (Aberle) Gottier.

       Bernie will be buried in Ellington Cemetery in Ellington, Connecticut . A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 2:30 until 6:00 in the afternoon in the Tolland Art Center, 22 Tolland Green, Tolland CT 06084.
