Barry Trent Gainey

Mr. Barry Trent Gainey, age 62, of Bolivia, NC passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at his home.

Trent was born in Wilmington, NC on August 13, 1961, and was a son of Emma Rae McDowell Gainey and the late A.H. “Lonnie” Gainey, Sr. In addition to his father, Trent was preceded in death by two brothers, A. H. “Sonny” Gainey, Jr., L. Kevin Gainey: two sisters, Daisey Kathleen Lynch Godwin and Sylvia Josephine Joby Gainey Jackson. Trent was a talented automobile mechanic; he was also an over the road truck driver and ran routes throughout the east coast. Trent also worked in commercial construction for several years with AVS maintenance. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting. Trent was a member of hunting clubs in the Supply area. He was a talented fisherman and could be seen cooking spots for anyone who wanted some following a good catch.

Surviving are his loving mother, Emma Rae Gainey of Bolivia; a brother, Ernest “Ernie” Sylvester Gainey; a sister, Patricia Ann “Patsy” Gregory; a brother-in-law, Donald Godwin; a special aunt, Vera McDowell Jones or his “second mother” as she was affectionately known; and other extended family and friends too numerous to mention.

Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Antioch Baptist Church, 1700 Midway Rd SE, Bolivia, NC 28422.  A visitation with the family after the service at the church.
