Barbara (Whitley) Young

      On November 22, 2023, Barbara Young of Oak Island passed away with grace, which was how she lived her rich, full life. She leaves behind her daughter, Lisa (Don), daughter-in-law Cheryl, grandchildren Kyle (Molly), Betsy (Chris), Brian (Caitlin), Diana (DJ) and Lauren (Brian). She also leaves great-grandchildren Eloise, Madeline, Charlotte, Penelope, Dexter, Mirabelle, Mac, Miles, Bradley and Bayard.

     She was predeceased by her husband, Tom, and beloved son, Mike. She will be missed dearly by her sister Phyllis, her brother Don and his wife Beverly, and many nieces and nephews.

     Barbara loved with her whole heart and had dear friends whom she thought of as family from all parts of her life in Georgia and North Carolina. She was a beloved teacher, a passionate gardener, and a gracious hostess always.

     The family would like to thank Lower Cape Fear LifeCare for the loving care they provided.

A private celebration of life will take place in the summer.
