Arthur Skelton Cummings (Skelly) departed to his heavenly home on January 23rd, 2026. He died in the care of his sister Amanda Cummings Bayless and her husband George Bayless Also surviving Skelly were his brother Paul G Cummings and wife Rachel McEwen Cummings and brother George Wood Cummings and wife Berrin Cummings. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who enjoyed family reunions on his farm.
Skelly attended Lees-Mcrae college and then the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He enrolled in the Army and served at Fort Wainwright in Alaska. Skelly was a jack of all trades beginning with his pop corn stand in Berkeley California to tree cutting in Auburn. He spent most of his career as a grip in the Motion Picture industry. But what took up most of his time were his motorcycles. He collected a dozen and loved each and everyone of them. He was very close to Charlie and Linda Harris who served as his care takers in his last years and Layla who called him “diddy”n. It can be said that Skelly lived life on his own terms. He will be forever etched in the memories of those who loved him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
