Wendy Lee Meyer, 68 went home to be with Jesus on October 17th at 11:40 am with her family and friends by her side after a brave battle with ALS.

Wendy was born on January 2, 1954 in Champaign, Illinois to Patricia and Raymond Walker. Wendy was a beloved middle sister to her brothers Steve and Lance, and her late sister Nancy.

As children, they grew up together adventuring on their grandparents' farms and ranches in rural Franktown, Colorado. During her early life as a youngster, Wendy's father was in the Airforce, and the family was stationed in many parts of the US, including Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska, and Arizona, as well as 2 years in Japan.

In high school, Wendy was known for her beautiful voice, and sang many solos in choir performances.  Wendy's heart and life's ministry was teaching young children's Sunday School. She was often found letting a little one reach into her Mary Poppins-like activity bag for a special treat.

In October of 1972, Wendy was blessed with the birth of her daughter Vicki Lee Wakefield, and later, in December of 1981 her son Erin Shea Walker was born.

On December 31st 1988, Wendy married Curt Meyer. The two were each other's lifelong companions and friends. They shared many years of traveling, laughter, and a love for the Lord.

Wendy worked in the microelectronics department at Hughes Aircraft, and later Raytheon Technologies. She was known for her dedication to excellence, and retired with distinction.

She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and spending time with grandchildren. Wendy is survived by: her husband of Curt of 34 years, her brothers Steve (Cathy), and Lance, two children Vicki and Erin (Lexi), eight grandchildren Ryan (Kendall), Dawndrea (William), Taylor, Chance, Naythan, Eden, Analise, Walker, four great grandchildren, and many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by: her mother Patricia, and father Ray, as well as her sister Nancy. Wendy will especially be remembered for her beautiful spirit, burning the Thanksgiving rolls, singing O' Holy Night at Christmas, her extremely corny jokes, and making the best English toffee that the world has ever known.

Wendy was truly the brightest star in the Walker Constellation. She had boundless kindness, gentleness of spirit, a dedication to helping others. Wendy never had an unkind word or negative comment, even in her most challenging days. Wendy was a gift to her family, her spiritual family, her friends and her community.

Memorial service will be held Saturday October 29, 2022 at Riverside Baptist Church in Conway, SC at 11 o'clock a.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made electronically to the ALS Foundation North Carolina Chapter at ALS Foundation Donation Page or by bringing Sunday School items to the reception to donate to local programs serving children.
