Virginia "Jinny"

Virginia "Jinny" Monsko
March 25, 1935 – June 28, 2026
Virginia "Jinny" Monsko, of Leland, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Salvatore and Emanuella Tumino, Jinny worked in banking and later as a legal secretary before dedicating herself to the role she cherished most—wife, mother, and grandmother. She married the love of her life, John Monsko, and together they built a family filled with love.
Jinny found her greatest happiness in time spent with family and friends, especially vacations on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. She was known for her delicious home-cooked meals, kind heart, encouraging words, and positive outlook on life. Her favorite saying, "Shoot for the stars," reflected the hope she inspired in others.
She loved animals, especially her beloved dog, Toast, and enjoyed spoiling all of the dogs in her family. She enjoyed lively games of Mexican Train, Texas Hold'em, and Five Crowns with family and friends. Above all, her faith in God guided her life and the compassion she shared with everyone she met.
She is survived by her son, Marc Monsko (Tracey); daughter, Tina Connell (Jim); five grandchildren, Joe, Nicki, Chris, Matt, and Carly; her sister, JoAnn Boucher (Dan); her brother, Emanuel Tumino; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Monsko, and her parents.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 17, at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport, North Carolina, followed by a Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Jinny will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering love, joyful spirit, and steadfast faith.
