Sidney Morris
Jill
May 4, 1939 — Sep 27, 2026
Calabash, NC
Sidney Morris Jill, 87, of Calabash, NC passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at home with his loving family at his side.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on May 4, 1939, Sidney was the son of the late Lew and Lillian Benedon Jill.
Sidney graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1958, and recently retired from his wholesale carpet business. He was a proud US Army veteran and served in Ft Riley, Kansas and Baumholder, Germany from 1958-1960 where he received the Good Conduct Medal. Upon his return from military service, he worked for the US Postal Office before finding his passion for sales in the retail carpet business. He started a wholesale carpet company in the mid-seventies serving businesses across Long Island and the greater New York City area. Sidney was a consummate salesman who loved to engage people from all walks of life, both professionally and personally.
His memory will be cherished by his wife, Alice Miller Jill; daughter Karen (James) Sinning of Chappaqua, NY; son Scott (Joanne) Bologna-Jill of Altamont, NY; stepdaughter Tara (Joe) Grillo of Calabash, NC; the late stepdaughter Kerri Miller; sister Ada Schneider from New Hampshire; grandchildren, Aaron Jill and wife Rachel of Burnt Hills, NY, Traci Sheehan and husband Rob of Providence, RI, Stephen Bologna and wife Celia of Sleepy Hollow, NY; great grandchildren, Atlas, Atreus, Violetta, and Aurora. He also leaves behind a host of additional loving family and friends too numerous to mention.
Sid was a good man with a pure heart and the patience of a saint. He saw the positive and the humor in absolutely everything. People all around Sid, including strangers, were drawn to him. Sid loved his family more than life. He was so proud and joyous of his children (or you can say kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids).
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date and will be announced here when complete.
Donations in his memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, who honored Sid’s dignity while offering comfort, support and peace during life’s final journey. Lower Cape Fear Life Care, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422 or www.lifecare.org.
