Rodney Albert Saunders, Major, US Air Force Retired, age 90, of Little River, SC passed away on Thursday, the twentieth of October 2022 in the McLeod Seacoast Hospital, Little River, SC.

Rodney was born on April 15, 1932, in Burlington, VT to the late Albert Marvin and Bertha Holmes Saunders. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Saunders.

He joined the US Airforce, became a pilot and served during the Viet Nam war. Rodney retired from the Air Force in 1974. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for ten years as the educational director for WCFE-TV Plattsburgh, NY. He then retired and moved to Myrtle Beach, SC where he enjoyed golf and being outdoors.

While still in high school, he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Joan Tindall Saunders. They dated for seven years and then they married. Their marriage lasted just days short of sixty-seven years and they had three children, Robert Saunders, (Donna Ashline) of South Hero, VT, Barbara Trager (Lance) of Sanford, FL, daughter in law, Misuk Saunders of Beaver Creek, OH. Also surviving are a sister, Beverly James of Houston, TX; and grandchildren, Christopher "CJ" Favreau, Renee Favreau, Jennifer Saunders and Holly White-Steele; Brayden White, and twins, Oliver & Emmett Steele.

Memorial services are being planned and will be conducted at 12:00 PM, on Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 801 11th Avenue North, North Myrtle Beach, SC.
