Robert "Bob" Murphy, 87, of Calabash, NC and formerly of Butler and Ortley Beach, NJ, passed away on Thursday the ninth of December 2021 at his Calabash, NC home with family by his side.

Born in Newark, NJ on the twenty eighth of November 1934, Bob was a son of the late Hugh Murphy, Sr. and Connie Harris Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh Murphy, Jr.

Mr. Murphy graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees. He was a retired electrical and computer science engineer  working for several different engineering, technology, and financial services firms throughout his career.

Bob was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church.

Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Ruth Peck Murphy; children, Robert Murphy and wife Judith of Cranford, NJ, Eileen Post and husband Russell of Stockholm, NJ, Diane Williams and husband Butch Jachimczuk of Fair Bluff, NC, Karen Hughes and husband Stephen of Lavallette, NJ, Kevin Murphy and wife Willa Bernstein of NY, NY; grandchildren, Megan Murphy (deceased), Jessie Murphy, Eric Murphy, Doug Post, Russell Post, Steven Williams, Michele Williams, Honor Murphy, Anna Braz, and Eva Murphy; and great grandchildren, Joshua Murphy, Ian Murphy, and Gianna Williams.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM on December 17, 2021 in St. Brendan The Navigator Catholic Church.
