Robert A. Kirkpatrick

Robert (Bob) Kirkpatrick was born February 26, 1944, Sacramento CA. He died peacefully at home February 17, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Bob grew up in a military family and they were stationed in numerous army bases in the U.S. and Germany.  They settled in the Fort Monmouth area in New Jersey where Bob attended school and graduated from Red Bank High School. He then earned an A.A. degree from Brookdale Community College.  Bob was a lifeguard at the Fort Monmouth Officer's Club pool and beach at the Jersey Shore where he met his wife Beryl Marx in June 1964. Bob and Beryl fell in love at first sight and married Dec 9, 1966.

The couple lived and worked in New Jersey until recent years. During their early marriage and starting a family, Bob proudly served four years in the US Coast Guard.  He then pursued a career for Nestle Company followed by Tetley Tea Company. He began in sales, advanced to management, and retired as world military sales manager for Tenco, a division of Tetley Tea.

During their marriage, Bob and Beryl spent summers in Maine for many years where they shared their love of boating on Lake Sebago. Bob and Beryl shared many vacations and most holidays with their sons and families.  Throughout the years they had fun dancing jitterbug to sixties music, regular walks along the ocean fronts in New Jersey and North Carolina, and always a good game of golf. Their greatest joy in life as a couple was time spent with their family.  Their lives were organized around visiting Scott and Matthew. It brought Bob enormous joy to play golf with both sons. Bob especially enjoyed cheering for their sons when they were kids, and then their grandchildren in various activities, sharing vacations, holidays or playing games together. Bob was proud of each of them and their life choices.

Bob and Beryl fulfilled their retirement dream of moving to North Carolina when they settled in Carolina Shores seven years ago.  In the last few years another dream came true, in the form of a vacation with Beryl to Scotland.  In recent years, Bob spent hours working on his miniature train set and attending to the details of his craft. Bob had a welcoming smile and easy laugh and made friends wherever he worked and lived. He touched the lives of so many. Bob was pre-deceased by his parents, Robert and Miriam Kirkpatrick and his brother Richard Kirkpatrick.  He will be dearly missed. Most especially Bob will be missed by the love of his life and wife of more than 55 years, Beryl Marx Kirkpatrick, their son Scott M. (Debbie) Kirkpatrick, grandchildren Ashley, Ryan, and Tyler; son Matthew (Laura) Kirkpatrick, grandchildren Emma, Jacob and Braydon.

Memorial services will held at a later date.
