Richard "Rick" Michael Maliniak, 78, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 following a time of declining health.

Rick was born in Coaldale, PA on May 17, 1945 to the late Peter and Rose Winsko Maliniak.

Rick earned his PHD from Penn State in Histotechnology; following college he began a twenty six year career at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NY and retired in 2006 as section chief with the Department of Pathology. He was a member of the College of American Pathologists, National Society for Histotechnology, and was the clinical assistant professor of Pathology and Labratory Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Rick enjoyed traveling throughout Europe with his wife Barbara and summering at their summer home in Maine. He was a Audiophile who loved listening to high-quality sound in his home theater. Rick also loved Sci-Fi movies, Jeopardy where he seemed to know so many of the answers. He was a longtime dog lover, especially Old English Sheep dogs in which they had four. Rick was also a US Air Force veteran and served during the Viet-Nam war.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara; brother, Peter of Collegeville, PA; nieces, Pamela, Sandy & Lindsey; a sister-in-law Lynn Stoffers-Grieco; brother-in-law, Benjamin Griece; niece, Krista Damiano; nephew, William Stoffers Grieco of Leland, and his dog Digby.

To honor his wishes memorial services will be private.
