Philip Palevo,
Jr.
Jan 4, 1957 — Jul 16, 2023
Leland, NC
Philip Palevo, Jr., age 66, of Leland, NC passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday morning, July 16, 2023.
Phil was born in Newark, NJ, on January 4, 1957 and was the son of the late Philip Palevo, Sr., and Mrs. Sadie DePasquale Palevo of Barnegat, NJ.
After graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Edison, NJ, Phil earned a Bachelors Degree at Montclair State University majoring in Mathematics, with a minor in Computer Science. He also acquired an advanced degree in Computer Technology at DeVry Institute, Woodbridge, NJ, allowing him to design computer networks that many larger financial institutions use today, including Manufacturer's Hanover, Bankers Trust and Deutsch Bank. He ended his career at Barclays Capital in New York City in 2015. For several years during his career Phil was very involved with CIPTUG.
In addition to his mother, Sadie Palevo, and brother Robert Palevo, Phil is survived by his devoted wife, Andrea Palevo of Compass Pointe; son, Daniel Palevo, wife Kaitlyn, their son, Colton Philip Palevo; daughter, Dr. Cheryl Randall, husband Skye Randall, and their son, Bennett Friedrich Randall.
Phil had many different interests especially golf. He was a huge music fan. He enjoyed working on cars, traveling and most of all spending time with his family. He coached the children in soccer, baseball, softball and basketball. He was great at home improvement, both for his own homes and for Dan and Cheryl, completing full renovations with them.
After retiring, he and his wife Andrea moved to Compass Pointe, Leland, NC. He was very hands on in the community, helping to manage the Men's Golf League at Compass Pointe for three years which included helping to run charity golf tournaments.
Phil was a loving husband to Andrea for forty-four years although they started dating fifty years ago! Phil worked long and hard to be able to enjoy retirement at the age of 57. Phil and Andrea traveled extensively. They enjoyed many wonderful locations, traveling on family ski trips, group trips with close friends, and on their own. Phil's favorite location was Florence, Italy. Phil also enjoyed music, Allman Brothers Band, Chicago and Steely Dan among his top three.
When the news came in January of 2023 that Phil had ALS, in true Phil fashion he began planning for Andrea's future when he would not be here to enjoy it with her. Phil also tried some very new drug therapies for ALS to help extend his life. Even though he fought the good fight this evil disease took him in a short 7 months.
"The family wishes memorials to be made to: ALS Association NC Chapter , 4 North Blount St., Suite 200 Raleigh, NC 27601 or online at www.alsncdonate.org" The ALS North Carolina chapter was extremely kind and helpful to Phil covering many of his needs quickly and efficently during his short journey with them.
The Compass Pointe Men's Golf League will be running a charity golf tournament, date to be determined, in Phil's name with benefits to go to ALSNC.org.
Online condolences are encouraged and may be sent to the family at ww.fulwoodfuneralservice.com
