Nancy W. Mann, 76, of Shallotte, NC formerly of Manchester, CT passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023 in the Universal Healthcare Center, Bolivia, NC following a lengthly time of declining health.
Nancy was born in Providence, RI on October 7, 1946 and was the only daughter of the late Bradford V. and Helen Poland Whitman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Whitman.
After high school, Nancy received her Batchelors degree from the University of Rhode Island followed by her Masters from the University of Connecticut.
She worked for Aetna Life Insurance for some time but found her talents were being a mom and homemaker for her beloved family. She was a member of both the Appalachian Mountain Club as well as the New Haven Hiking Club.
She enjoyed being in the outdoors and being active. She loved hiking, canoeing,biking, camping, and traveling. Nancy especially loved being with her cherished family and grandchildren. She always had a smile for everyone.
She is survived by her devoted caregiver and husband of 55 years, Thomas A. Mann; her children, Jeffrey Mann and wife Marie of Gainesville, FL, Amy Spach and husband Lee of Shallotte, NC; brother, David Whitman and wife Pat of Rumford, RI; sister-in-law, Martine Whitman of, Billerica, MA; and her four grandchildren, Emma Spach, Griffin Spach, Abbey Mann and Renee Mann.
To honor her wishes, a private family memorial service will be held.
