Mildred “Millie” Joyce Evans Fischette, 80, of Ash, NC passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center following a decline in health.

Born in Whiteville, NC on September 2, 1946, Millie was a daughter of the late Preston Calvin “PC” and Mary Geneva Williams Evans.

Millie retired from the hotel industry after a long and successful career in management. She was a member of Soldier Bay Baptist Church and was fondly known as the “Strawberry Queen” at Geke’s Farm in Ash.

Millie had a love for gardening and was a talented artist who created wonderful yard art. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, an amazing grandmother, a fantastic cook, and the life of the party.

Surviving are her son, David Morse and wife, Heather; her daughter, Dawn Morse; her brother, Calvin Evans and wife, Karen; her grandchildren, Myah Dooley (Corey) and Maisy Morse (Lance); her nephews, Matthew Evans (Heather) and Kasey Evans (Dustin); and a host of extended family members and friends whom she loved with all her heart.

A Celebration of Life service is being planned and will be announced here once arrangements are complete.
