Michael Stephen Morris

Born in Muncie, Indiana, and raised in Lake Milton, Ohio

Michael Stephen Morris, age 62, of Oak Island, NC, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in the Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Michael was born to Donald W. Morris and Wilma S. Christy. Also playing a large role in his life have been his stepmom, Shirley Morris, and late grandmother, Maybelle Schisler. He has sisters, Jessica, Donna, Valerie, Amanda and brothers, Charlie and John Morris whom he loved dearly.

Michael was raised much of his life on his beloved "farm" in Lake Milton, Ohio. He endured many health issues as a young boy, but he, as always, won the battles. He attended Kent State University on a ROTC scholarship and went on to serve in the US Army, based out of Fort Carson, Colorado. He moved to Greensboro, NC, to a "civilian" job. There he met Wendy Lemons, and they began their journey. He also gained a family that loved him dearly, Ron Lemons, Betty Lemons, Marie Talley, Raleigh Talley, and Addie Sue Talley.

They moved to Knoxville, TN, and enjoyed their many years there with wonderful friends and neighbors. Michael delighted in their life there. While living there, Michael opened a new office for Rogers Benefit Group and then was the fifth person hired into a new division of GMAC, Dealer Tips. Then on Michael's last assignment, they moved to Oak Island, NC. After leaving the corporate world, Michael found his true joy in being a teacher assistant with Brunswick County Schools, teaching English as a second language. There, among many other ways, he changed lives daily with his love for "his kids." Michael had no biological children but many "adopted" ones.

Michael had a strong faith and taught Sunday School for many years and passed that gift along to many.

The family asks with gratitude that you donate in Michael's memory to your local "no kill" pet shelter.

A Celebration of Life for Michael S. Morris will be Friday, January 13, at 2:30 p.m. in the Caswell Dunes Homeowners Clubhouse, 45 Pinehurst Dr., Caswell Beach, NC.

A second Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, January 19th at 2:30 p.m. in the Muir's Chapel UMC, 314 Muir's Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC.
