MICHAEL THOMAS CONDER-KAUFMAN

Michael Thomas Conder-Kaufman, 62, long-time resident of Shallotte, NC passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, Brunswick House. Michael, a hard working father of two (2) was born in Charlotte, NC on January 27, 1960.  Michael's early years were spent in the Plaza Road area of North Charlotte, then later in the Derita community. Michael enjoyed baseball and riding dirt-bikes as a young man.  Michael later worked for Luwa Corporation within their warehouse Operations division in Charlotte.  Later, Michael found himself in Beaufort, SC where he was introduced to the commercial fishing industry.  Always open to new challenges, Michael began a career as a commercial off-shore Shrimper.  It was a hard life but one that he thoroughly enjoyed.  While in Beaufort, Michael married and started a family.  Following career opportunities, Michael owned and operated a facility maintenance company for a number of years.  Michael's health began to decline and he semi-retired to the Shallotte/Ocean Isle, NC area.  For many years Michael's constant companion was his beloved black lab (Sam).  Michael was also blessed with grandchildren Logan, Kenadie, Kady Mae, and Amelia.

Michael was preceded in death by his Mother, Marie Whitlow, his paternal grandparents James and Evelyn Conder, maternal grandparents Clarence Whitlow and Willie Poythress.

Surviving Michael are his father James T. Conder, Jr., children Kevin Conder of Blacksburg, SC and Karla Conder of Beaufort, SC, Brothers Ronnie Kaufman (Karen) of Huntersville, NC, Donnie Conder (Candy) of North Myrtle Beach, SC, and James T. Conder, III (Skip) of Huntersville, NC., Aunts Jean McCraw (Neal) of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Patsy Cokernak (Bruce) of Little River, SC.

The family requests with gratitude that in lieu of flowers, donation be made in Michael's name to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center, Brunswick House, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422.
