Mary Magdaline (Poerio) Dobrie , age 78 passed away peacefully at home on December 4th 2021 following a three and a ½ year battle with Lung cancer.

Born April 23rd, 1943, In Westmorland County Youngwood, Pennsylvania.

Predeceased by her parents Josephine & Theodore T. Poerio, and her younger brother Eugene Poerio.

Survived by both of her children Rebecca (Raymond) Sardella , Cody (Carolyn) Poerio

Her beloved grandchildren, Angelina Beth (Stevie), Michael Grogan (Jess) , and Rachel Sea (Brandon) as well as her precious great grandchildren, Xavier, Avery, Lyla and Delaney, and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly.

Mary was born and raised in Youngwood Pennsylvania along with her siblings, Judith, Joseph (Patricia), Theodore (Susan), Clifford (Susan) and Eugene.  She graduated from Hempfield High School and Pittsburgh Beauty Academy in the very same week of 1961.

Mary relocated to Long Island, where she raised both of her children in 1972.  She had a successful career as a hair stylist and later in life began a second career as an advocate for women and children in domestic violence crisis, dedicating 30 years to creating safety and change for others. Later in life she relocated to North Carolina to be with her family and to continue her work, retiring only at the time of her cancer diagnosis.

Her life was rich with family and love and her spirit and nurturance will continue on through all of us.
