John Wilkens Helton, age 79, of Longwood, NC passed away on Wednesday the thirteenth of January 2021 in the Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center, Bolivia, NC from complications of the Covid-19 virus.

John was born in Dallas, NC and was one of ten children born to Dewey and Venus Lowe Helton. John was a truck driver for many years and was retired from Walmart of Shallotte. He was a member of the Church of God and had attended Emmanuel Outreach Church.

Survivors include his wife, Janet White Helton; four daughters, Cindy Russell and husband Dale of Raleigh, NC, Michelle Carpenter and husband Sean of Rocky Mount, NC, Marlene Sellers of Dallas, NC, Charlene Medlin and husband David of Lincolnton, NC; step-children, Jeremy Roller and wife Tabitha, Amy Caudill, Pamela Harris all of Ash, NC; a brother, Ronnie Helton of Cherryville, NC; two sisters, Pat Brown, Gwen Ellington of Cherryville, NC; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; thirteen step-grandchildren and eight step great-grandchildren.
