Jerry “Buddy” John Vernon, 21, of Ash, NC passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Born on June 5, 2005, Jerry was the son of Stephanie Lewis (Chris Nixon). Jerry walked to the beat of his own drum. He wasn’t ashamed to tell others he was a mama’s boy. They were best friends.

Jerry enjoyed music, dancing, singing, laughing, and making others laugh. He found great joy in helping others in their time of need.

In addition to his mother, Jerry is survived by his brother, Rylan Russell; his grandmother, Melissa Lewis; his uncle, Jeremy Lewis (Jennifer Cave); many friends from work and his friend and mentor, Towanda Reed; childhood friends, JaQuill and Zobie Bethea, and so many other “Best Friends”. He is also survived by a very special young lady, Melody Guerin.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 29, 2026, in the Centerpoint Church, 1798 Oxpen Road, Supply, NC.

The family will have a time of visitation from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, prior to the service.
