Jene Terry McCumbee, 77, of Ash, NC passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, following a time of declining health.

Terry was born in Southport, NC on July 3, 1946 and was a son of the late Campie McCumbee Carlisle. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, May Costello, Mary Ellen Strickland, Rupert Strickland and James H. Strickland.

Terry was a lifelong resident of Brunswick County. He was a proud US Army veteran and served during the Viet Nam war. He was a retired owner and operator of T M Transport Trucking Company, He enjoyed pursuing his hobby of antique tractor restoration following his retirement as long as his health would allow.

Surviving are his wife of 16 years, Peggy Faulk McCumbee; two sons, David McCumbee, Michael McCumbee; a daughter, Shannon M. Benton; a step-son, Tony Ransom (Ashley); a daughter-in-law, Stephanie McCumbee; a sister, Jane Gore; Son-in-law, Tony Benton; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the family home, 1919 Whiteville Road, NW, Ash, NC 28420 with Reverend Mark Register officiating. There will be military honors by the US Army Honor Guard. There will be a reception following the service.
