James "Jim" Robert  Baker, age 78, of Bolivia, NC passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, Bolivia, NC.

Jim was born in Battle Creek, MI to the late Glenn and Jane Baker.  In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Champagne) Baker, brother Gerard (Gerry) Baker, and nephew, Glen Baker.

Jim was a graduate of St. Philip Catholic Central High School in Battle, Creek, MI.

He was a highly skilled machinist with Kellogg's of Battle Creek, MI and retired after thirty-two years of service.

Jim's passion was sailing on Lake Michigan with his family.  He attained his captain's license and chartered his boat for a brief time offering daytime and sunset cruises.

In 2006 he relocated to Bolivia, NC to be closer to his mother, sister and brother.  He also spent his winters in Florida.

Jim enjoyed the beaches, going to the piers fishing and hanging out with friends.  He had a deep love for all wildlife and was known for feeding the deer, birds, rabbits, feral cats and any other critter that would show up on his back porch.

Jim had a big heart, great sense of humor and quick wit.  He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Robyn (Baker) Rozell and husband Brian of Winnabow, NC; son, Todd Baker and wife Sheila of Battle Creek, MI.  Sister, Virginia Baker of Wilmington, NC, Granddaughter, Heather(Glidden) Hebert and husband Richard of Boiling Spring Lakes, NC.  Great grandsons Brayden Hebert and Jaxson James Hebert. Brother and sister-in laws, nieces and nephews.

To honor his wishes, there will be a private graveside service at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, Battle Creek, MI.
