Obituary

James “Jim” William LaRue, 74, of Calabash, NC passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at his home with his loving family at his bedside.

Jim was born in Newark, NJ, on June 15, 1952, and was a son of the late Frederick Charles and Catherine Scaglione LaRue. Jim graduated from the University of Oklahoma and was commissioned into the United States Navy. He spent the next years serving his country with honor as a Surface Warfare Officer, carrying the values of service, leadership and integrity throughout his life. Upon leaving the Navy, Jim’s professional career consisted of working in manufacturing for a number of companies which evolved into being a senior executive vice president of international supply chain. Jim and Maureen lived in 6 states during their 53 year marriage and additionally spent 2 years living in Scotland UK.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 53 years, Maureen Kelly LaRue; a sister Mary Claire McIntire (David), a sister Charina Fanara (Michael), a son Michael LaRue (Alison), a son Brian LaRue (Sarah) and a daughter, Kelly LaRue. As well as 5 grandchildren Leia, Logan, Sydney, Audrey and Asher who were the light of his life.

He found happiness on the golf course, enjoyed a good glass of scotch with family and friends and was a loyal supporter of the Oklahoma Sooners football. HIs passions, sense of humor, and unwavering work ethics left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Above all, he will be remembered for the love he gave to his wife, children and grandchildren. His example of dedication, strength, and generosity will continue to guide and inspire his family for generations to come.
