Obituary

Mrs. Ida Mae Smith Ganus,

November 30, 2021, Ida "Mae" Ganus, 92, departed this world to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven. Born in Brunswick County, September 16, 1929, Mae was the daughter of the late Jesse Oliver "Jess" Smith, Sr and Ollie Elizabeth McCumbee Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Arthur Ganus and her beloved son, James Larry Ganus, Sr and son-in-law, James Maurice Little. Mae was the eldest of ten siblings and was preceded in death by sisters, Inez and Louise Smith (Twins who died as infants), Estes Callahan, Eloise Ivey and Betty Nelson; brothers, Richard Oliver "R.O." Smith, Jesse Oliver "J.O." Smith, Jr., and Sherman "Toby" Smith. Mae loved the Lord, her family, family gatherings and two special dear friends, Mrs. Betty Layton and Ms. Judy Russ. Mae was a longtime and devoted member of Longwood Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Diane Little of Ash; sister, Linda S. Allen of Conway, SC; grandsons, James Larry Ganus, Jr. (Lynsey) of Shallotte, James Brian Little and Whitney M. Little (Vanessa) of Ash; great grandchildren, Olivia and Owen Ganus (Larry, Jr.), Madison, Buddy and Julia Little (Brian), Marcianna "Marci" Little, (Whitney) along with numerous nieces and nephews.
