Girtha Kay Smith Wagner, 84, of Shallotte, NC passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Born in Ash, NC on the twenty fifth of June 1937, Kay was a daughter of the late Daniel Lacy and Alta Rebecca Woodard Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Eric Scott Wagner, a sister, Loyal Reed, five brothers, Earland, Glen, Russell, Woodard and Don Smith.

Kay graduated from Waccamaw High School and was a cheerleader. She had a passion for flowers and was a successful flower designer and owned her own florist. Kay was also past president of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Charleston, SC. And was more recently a active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Shallotte Ward and was a past president of the Shallotte Ward Relief Society.

Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, Edward Wagner; a son, Edward Lance Wagner of Kauai, HI; two brothers, Dale Smith of Shallotte, Garris Smith and wife Carol of Ash, NC; a sister, Dila S. Gore and husband Harold of Nakina, NC; and a daughter-in-law, Aziza Fillali.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday in the Bill Inman Cemetery, Ash, NC .
