Ginger R. Maisto, 81, of Southport, NC passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at her home with her loving family at her side.

Ginger was born in Wytheville, VA, on May 17, 1945, and was a daughter of the late George Eli Rider and Jeanette Stroupe Welch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Lee Maisto.

Ginger was a Registered Nurse for over forty-one years and had worked as Nursing Supervisor for UNC Chapel Hill Student Health, Chapel Hill, NC. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed needlepoint and cross stitch. Her favorite thing was traveling with her sister and family.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Maisto Rogers, (John) of Southport, NC; a son, Vince Maisto of Matthews, NC; a sister, Jean Goddeau (Don) of West Palm Beach, FL; a granddaughter, Mary Warren Rogers of Boston, MA; and three nieces, Amie Goddeau, Leigh Goddeau and Christy Goddeau.

To honor her wishes, a private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
