George Batten, Jr., 64, of Sunset Beach, NC formerly of Raleigh, NC passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at his home.

Born at Ernest Harmon AFB in Newfoundland, Canada on April 3, 1958, to Melba Elizabeth Kelly Batten of Garner, NC and the late George Batten, Sr.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Elaine Roark Batten; son Dayne (Emily) Batten; daughter Ashlyn Batten; stepsons Brandon (Madelin) Dias and Tristan (Jamie) Dias; brothers John (Wendy) Batten, Bryan (Cindy) Batten, Robert (Donna) Batten.  George was granddaddy to six precious grandchildren Joshua, Titus, and Philip Batten and Adam, Olive and Ian Dias. He was also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

George was an avid World War II buff and loved camping, fishing, hiking, and being outdoors—especially by the coast. He grew up playing ball, and continued to play in church leagues and through the YMCA over the years. He loved serving at church ministries and will be tremendously missed by all of his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Monday, March 20, 2023 in the Peace Presbyterian Church, 1777 W. Chatham St., Cary, NC 27513.
