Obituary

Elizabeth Ann (Dorsey) Sherin, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center, Bolivia, NC after  lengthy illness.

The daughter of Jeannette and Dr. Carl Dorsey, and identical twin of Carol Alys (Dorsey) Yoder, she was born on July 24, 1944, in St. Louis, MO. When Dr. Dorsey accepted a position at WVU, the family moved to Morgantown in 1952.

Known as Ann or Annie, she attended local schools through junior high, graduating high school from Mt. de Chantal Academy in Wheeling, WV in 1962. She attended WVU, where she studied journalism.

Ann went on to become a flight attendant for Continental Airlines, where she spent twenty five years before retiring. Her outgoing, gregarious personality made her a favorite with her passengers, fellow staff members, and management. Based in Los Angeles, she lived in Manhattan Beach for many years, then moving to Palm Desert, and more recently to North Carolina.

She traveled widely throughout the world, which she greatly enjoyed. Ann was also devoted to her beloved dogs.

Ann's husband, James W. Sherin, preceded her in death in June of 2022. In addition to her sister, Carol Alys Yoder (William), she is survived by brothers, Daniel Dorsey (Ruth), David Dorsey (Sherry), sister, Jean Karlson (Douglas), two step-sons, Jeffrey and Joshua Sherin, and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Her oldest brother, John (Mary) passed away on April 15, 2023.

Ann will be remembered for her fun-loving and kind hearted spirit. she lit up every room she entered.

Service plans are pending. A memorial service for Ann and Jim is being planned for mid-summer of this year at Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown, WV.
