Dottie Somersett "Dot" Ludlum, age 88, of Ash, NC passed away on Tuesday the twenty seventh of April , 2021 at her home. Dot was born in Southport, NC on the nineteenth of May 1932 to the late John R. Somersett and Katie Ward Somersett Hildreth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband US Army, Sgt Major Retired Raymond M. Ludlum. Dot attended Zion Baptist Church, Ash, NC for many years before her failing health kept her from attending.

Surviving are her loving daughter, Dianne L. Todd of Shallotte; a sister, Lois Baccarny of Ash; two grandchildren, Amber Todd, Brandon Hewett and wife Rachel; two great-grandchildren, Brennan Dosher, Avery Mae Hewett; a special friend, Hinton Fulford; special nephew, Michael Baccarny; caregivers, Cathy Shaffer, Sandra Crowder and Janet Morelock and several nieces and nephews. The family expresses a very special thank you to the staff of Lower Cape Fear Lifecare for the excellent care given to Dot.

Funeral service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Friday the thirtieth of April , 2021 in the Zion Baptist Church, Ash, NC with The Reverend Landis Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens. The wearing of masks and social distancing will be observed.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Baccarny, Kyle Baccarny, DeWayne McCumbee, Glenn Britt, Dewey Hardee, and Lee Hardee. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Hewett, Mike Baccarny, Rick Todd and Jeff Sheetz.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
