David Lawrence Ungerer, Sr., age 86, of Southport, NC (St. James) passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at his residence.

Born in Plainfield, NJ on October 31, 1935, David was a son of the late Harry and Mildred Miesner Ungerer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Casey, Robert Ungerer, Mildred Redrup, Margie Manner, and Carolyn Anderer.

David was a proud US Marine Corps veteran and served during the Korean war. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.   David was a youth coach for both Little League baseball and Pop Warner football.  He was also a scout leader for Troop 76.

Surviving are his loving wife, Patricia Ungerer; sons, David Ungerer, Jr., and wife Sylvia, Daniel Ungerer; a brother, John Ungerer; a sister, Janice Skinner; grandchildren, Dominic Crupi, Dante Ungerer, David Ungerer, III, Thomas Swalka, Katherine Swalka, Brooke Ungerer; great grandchildren, Riley Nussbaum, Sophia Swalka and James Swalka.

Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, December 10, 2021, in the Shepherd Assembly Church, 6720 Old Shallotte Rd., Ocean Isle Beach, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
