Obituary

Clara Anieta (Peterson) Schiel, age 81, of Supply, North Carolina passed away at her daughter's home on July 2, 2023.  She was born on the 4th of July, 1941 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Albert Vernon Peterson and Lillian Grace (Cranmer) Peterson.  She was predeceased by her husband Charles "Jerry" Schiel in November 2021, one child Baby Schiel, and her brothers Bert and Joe Peterson.

In 1955, after her parents passed away, Clara came to Barnegat, New Jersey to live with her cousin Evans Miller and his wife Bernice.  She graduated from Southern Regional High School Class of 1959 where she enjoyed singing in the choir.  Clara had a beautiful voice and shared it with those she loved.  As a young woman she was a beauty contestant and placed 1st runner up.  Clara was an avid bowler and pinochle player.  What Clara treasured most was spending time with her family.  Clara met the love of her life, Jerry, and married him in 1963.  They raised six children in Beachwood, New Jersey.  Clara was employed by Toms River Answering service and AAA of Toms River, NJ. When Clara and Jerry moved to North Carolina she wanted to work part time. She was employed at the Holden Beach Surf Shop and then later at Brunswick Community College.  Clara enjoyed meeting and making new friends at her jobs and other social activities.

Clara is survived by her six children Christina (Jack) Sorrentino of Fairview, NC, Charlene Schiel of Supply, NC, Colleen (Brian) Tice of Arden, NC, Charles "Butch" (Janis) Schiel of Shallotte, NC, Clifford (Michelle) Schiel of Beachwood, NJ and Craig Schiel (Tracie Zimmer) of Supply, NC, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.  She had a special bond with her nephew and his wife, Steve and Pat Dickinson and her niece Jennifer Peterson.  Clara will be greatly missed by family and many lifelong friends.  Clara's famous last words to everyone were "LOVE YOU MORE ".

King Jerry and Queen Clara are whole again.

Memorial services will be in the Shallotte Moose Lodge, 253 Holden Beach Road SW, Shallotte, NC 28470 on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 12-4pm.
