Obituary

Brian Alan Day, 69, of Shallotte, NC passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023 in the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center surrounded by family.

Born in Wilmington, DE on December 9, 1953, Brian was a son of the late Robert Irving and Marion Gillespie Day. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Day and Diane Day.

Brian was a retired HVAC installer for the State of Delaware school system. He was an avid Oakland/LA/ and Las Vegas Raiders football  fan . The highlight of his Raiders days was a trip to California and a personal tour of the team's locker room from  Rich Gannon, the team Quarter back, whom Brian watched play College football at the University of Delaware, as a Fightin' Blue Hen, a team he held season tickets to for decades. He also enjoyed sailing throughout the Caribbean with his boat Captain son, Scott for many years.  Since moving to North Carolina after retirement Brian also enjoyed being a background actor for various movies and TV shows being filmed in the area.

He loved crabbing from his dock and spending free time helping others with projects around their home. He was a fighter just like his Blue Hens and battled his cancer bravely for eight years so he could spend more time with those he loved. He forever lives on in the hearts of his family and be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Surviving are his adoring wife of 52 years, Marilyn Day; a son, Scott Day; a daughter, Kelly Nowrey and husband Shawn; and grandchildren, Killian Nowrey and wife Emily, Shawn Nowrey, Jr., Shane Nowrey.

To respect his desires, there will be a private family memorial service.
