Barbara Robbins Nelthropp, 94, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2022 in Shallotte, NC. She was born on December 15, 1928 in Portland, OR. She was the daughter of James Gilbert Robbins (of Spokane, WA) and Louise Comini (of Milan, Italy). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death  by her brother, James G. Robbins, Jr., and her husband of 50 years, Henry V. Nelthropp.

She grew up in Portland, OR and attended Dominican (College) University of CA in San Rafael, CA. After graduating, she began for Pan American Airlines and loved to travel. She met and married her husband in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. She assisted him in running the family's beef cattle farm, Granard Estates, and later started Corn Hill Dairy, producing Grade A milk for the island.

Barbara was most happy surrounded by her family. She loved to garden, cook and read. She was a devout Christian. She will be greatly missed by her four children, Catherine Holder (Houston) of Shallotte, NC, Henry C. Nelthropp (Rita), Patricia Schlinder (Mark), and James Nelthropp (Lanie) all of St. Croix; 11 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her twin sister, Patricia Sanderson.

The family thanks the entire staff of Lower Cape Fear LifeCare for all the special care they provided to Barbara. We are so grateful to nurses Rena and Maureen, as well as friends and neighbors.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in St. Croix later this summer.
