With great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude we announce that our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother Barbara Joyce Wilson, 89 has been called home to be with our Lord and Savior. Barbara, fondly known as "Beema" of Leland, NC formerly of La Quinta, California passed peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2023, in Whiteville, NC following a brief illness. She lived a long and full life, touching many hearts along the way.
Barbara was born in St. Paul, MN on August 7, 1933, to the late Charles and Lucille Loucks. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Roger Wilson, father Charles Loucks, mother Lucille N. Loucks, and her beloved grandson Nicholas Schwartz.
Barbara was a special person with an undeniable light. Her smile, sense of humor, and spirit lit up a room. She worked as a secretary for many years, but will be most notably remembered by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends for being the beautiful, loving, one -of-a-kind soul that she was. Always the life of the party.
Surviving are her children, daughter Cathy Poechman of White Bear Lake, MN, John and wife Maria of Ventura, CA, and Chuck Schwartz and wife Nicky of Bolivia, NC. Her brother Dean Loucks and wife Mary Ann Loucks of Evans GA, and their daughter Beth Berg and son Steven Loucks. Barbara leaves behind 7 adoring grandchildren- Melissa Schwartz, Tammy Johnson, Dallas Ernst, Alexandra Schwartz, Jacqueline Kuznicki, Samantha Kupiec, and Lisa Poechman. She was also a proud Great Grandma to 11- Kyle, Asjia, Mason, Rachel, Cole, Natalie, Graham, Isaac, Harrison, Gillian, and Ella Kate. She will be missed by all dearly.
Barbara loved the desert, and to honor her wishes, a private entombment will take place beside her husband Roger in California.
The family requests that donations be made in her name to Wounded Warriors Foundation or USO.
