Alice May Bookout, ND, 87, of Shallotte, NC passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, at her home.

Born in Clarksburg, WV on June 15, 1935, Alice May was a daughter of the late Fred and Daisy Harrison Beachy. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Gary Bookout.

Alice May was a longtime member of Camp United Methodist Church. She was a member of the "Happy Hatters" and was among the first graduating class of New Southern Garrett County, Junior-Senior High School, Oakland, MD in 1953. She was a graduate of first Baccalaureate Nursing Program from Alderson Broaddus College, Philippi, WV; she then earned her master's degree in nursing from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, and in 1983, Alice May received her Doctor of Naturopathy, from the Clayton School of natural Healing. She was the Owner Operator of Ancient Wisdom Health Center.

Surviving are her children, Dr. Craig Bookout, Boones Mill, VA, Reece Bookout of Louisville, KY, Fred Bookout and wife Della of Denton, NC, Scott Bookout and wife Terri of Claxton, GA, Laura B. Groves and husband Jeff of Kingwood, WV; a sister, Elizabeth Fike and husband Rogers of Oakland, MD; nineteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be private. Inurnment will take place in the Camp United Methodist Church Columbarium.
